The Professor B. C. Srivastava Foundation Award was instituted in 1987 by the students and colleagues of (Late) Prof. B. C. Srivastava, Head of the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, K. G. Medical College, Lucknow. This prize is awarded to a scientist for work in the field of community medicine carried out in medical colleges/recognized institutions. The Award for the year 2016 is being presented to Dr. Ajeet Singh Bhadoria, Assistant Professor in Epidemiology, Department of Clinical Research, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi for the research work on 'Prevalence of non-communicable disease (NCD) risk factors utilizing WHO-STEPS approach among urban and rural (tribal) population residing at Jabalpur district of Central India', screening above 900 adults. Dr. Bhadoria has published about 60 scientific articles and also has written chapters for professional development course at NIHFW. He is Project Coordinator to WHO Collaborating Centre on Viral Hepatitis and Liver Disease. He's regularly contributing as an expert advisory group member towards development of not only national but also South East Asia regional action plan on viral hepatitis.

Dr. M. N. Sen Oration Award was instituted in 1977 by Dr. K. N. Sen, former Professor of Medicine, School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata in memory of his brother Shri M. N. Sen. This award is given to a scientist for the sustained research work carried out in the field of practice of medicine (clinical, laboratory or therapeutic). The award for the year 2016 is being presented to Dr. Surender Kumar Yachha, Department of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow for the research work on 'New dimensions of mechanism and therapeutic impact explored at global level for specialized childhood disorders'. Dr. Yachha described safe quantified large volume paracentesis, postulated pathogenesis of hepato-pulmonary syndrome, defined predictors of outcome in viral hepatitis and coagulopathy, showed effective medical management of Budd-Chiari Syndrome, and identified 'high-risk' liver abscess treatable without surgery.

The Y. S. Narayana Rao Oration Award was instituted by Smt. Kamala Narayana Rao in 1972, in memory of her husband (Late) Dr. Y. S. Narayana Rao, former Director of King Institute of Preventive Medicine, Guindy, Chennai. It is an award given to a scientist for carrying out sustained research work in the field of microbiology. The award for the year 2016 is being presented to Dr. Anuradha Chowdhary, Professor, Department of Microbiology, Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, University of Delhi, for the research work on 'Unravelling the antifungal resistance in emerging human pathogenic fungi: an upcoming threat in India'. Dr. Chowdhary is elected fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology, Infectious Diseases Society of America and European Confederation of Medical Mycology. Dr. Chowdhary has been studying the epidemiology of emerging invasive fungal infections, molecular ecology and population genetics of pathogenic fungi in India with a focus on elucidating antifungal resistance mechanisms in aspergillosis and candidiasis. The emergence of multidrug resistant clonal Candida auris strains and multi-azole resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus in India were identified by her.

The Dr. P. N. Raju Oration Award was instituted in 1965 by Dr. Narsimha Raju, a Medical Practitioner of Vishakhapatnam. This prize is awarded to a scientist for his/her work in any subject of national importance in the field of medicine or public health. The award for year 2016 is being presented to Dr. Deepak Bansal, Hematology-Oncology unit, Department of Paediatrics, Advanced Paediatrics Centre, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh for the research work on 'Imatinib has adverse effect on growth in children with chronic myeloid leukemia'. Prof. Bansal demonstrated growth retardation to be a significant adverse effect of imatinib in children with CML. Prof. Bansal demonstrated it to result from the disruption of GH/IGF-1 axis. In addition, growth hormone was administered to children with CML, receiving imatinib and observed to be beneficial.
